By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

  • Breeding Event Data. Motion signatures and identification data associated with breeding behavior, including sire and dam identification through proximity detection and other sensor methods.
  • Environmental Data. Ambient temperature and other environmental readings from collar sensors.
  • Device Data. Battery level, solar charge status, cellular signal strength, firmware version, and device health metrics.
  • Connectivity Data. Network activity, device status, and communication logs.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Providing and Improving Our Services

  • To operate, maintain, and deliver the Services, including collar activation, virtual fencing, health monitoring, breeding intelligence, and market tools.
  • To display your livestock data, maps, boundaries, alerts, and reports within the app.
  • To send you notifications, health alerts, breeding events, and other operational communications about your collared animals.
  • To process your orders, manage your subscription, and provide customer support.

Machine Learning and Product Improvement

  • To train, develop, and improve our machine learning models for health detection, behavioral classification, breeding intelligence, and predictive analytics. This includes using collar sensor data, HerdHelp conversation data, and treatment outcome data to improve the accuracy and capabilities of our Services for all users.
  • Collar sensor data used for machine learning model training is de-identified and aggregated so that it is not linked to your identity or your ranch. Your ranch name, personal identity, and individual animal identifiers are never included in training datasets.
  • We may use patterns, anomalies, and outcomes observed across our entire collar fleet to develop and improve health prediction models, disease detection algorithms, and other analytical tools. These fleet-wide insights are derived from de-identified data and benefit all HerdStreet users.

Communications

  • To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • To send you product updates, firmware release information, and service announcements.
  • To send you marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time.

Safety and Security

  • To detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and other security threats.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and protect the rights and safety of our users.

Legal Compliance

  • To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

HerdStreet does not sell your personal information. We do not share your ranch identity or individual animal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to help us operate our Services, including cloud hosting, payment processing, email delivery, and customer support. These providers only access your data as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect your information.

Payment Processing

All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. HerdStreet does not store, process, or have access to your credit card numbers or bank account details. Your payment information is collected and processed directly by Stripe in accordance with their privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy). We receive only confirmation of payment, transaction amounts, and the last four digits of your payment method for order management purposes.

Anonymized and Aggregated Data

We may use and share anonymized, de-identified, or aggregated data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you or your ranch for research, analytical, or commercial purposes. This may include sharing anonymized behavioral datasets with universities, research institutions, or other organizations for the purpose of advancing livestock health research, veterinary science, or agricultural innovation. Any such sharing will involve data from which all personally identifiable information, ranch identity, and specific animal identifiers have been removed.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of HerdStreet, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

If HerdStreet is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

4. Your Collar Data and HerdHelp

How Collar Data Improves the Service

HerdStreet uses de-identified collar sensor data from across our user base to train and improve machine learning models that power health alerts, behavioral classification, breeding detection, and other features. This means that data patterns from your collars — stripped of any identifying information about you or your ranch — contribute to making the service better for all HerdStreet users. The more collars in the field, the smarter the system becomes for everyone.

HerdHelp Conversations

When you use HerdHelp, our AI-powered livestock health assistant, your questions, descriptions, and the AI-generated responses are stored and used to improve the accuracy of our health recommendations and machine learning models. Conversations are associated with your account for the purpose of providing you with personalized recommendations based on your collar data. De-identified conversation data (with your personal and ranch identity removed) may be used to train and improve our AI models.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Services. If you cancel your account, certain data may be retained in de-identified form for model training and product improvement purposes, as it will no longer be linked to your identity. We may also retain data as required by law.

5. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and secure authentication. Collar data is transmitted using encrypted cellular connections and stored on secure servers located in the United States.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

7. Third-Party Links

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • Access. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Deletion. You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.

9. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. HerdStreet does not sell your personal information as defined under the CCPA.

To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at legal@herdstreet.com.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
